UNDOING TRIPLE TALAQ

Image
Islam is one of the most beautiful religion in the world and also a religion the misinterpretation of which has facilitated the birth and growth of the anti-thesis to religion. Ever since the crusades, Islam has been a constant target of the west and the west has left almost no stone unturned in defaming the religion. The crusade is still on but the means of fighting it has changed drastically. The Islamists are fighting it with guns and missiles while the west is using the extremely lethal ‘propaganda’. This time the west seems to be winning and the reward of their victory is not Jerusalem but the oil rich lands of the Middle East. The introduction above is probably not appropriate and is a misfit for the topic I have today chosen to write upon. However, I chose to write it because I believe it is important for me to make my readers understand that my opposition to Triple Talaq is neither an outcome of the western propaganda nor an opposition to Islam. Religion in our cou...

BANNING SLAUGHTER

Image
Post 2014 general elections, the vigilantes working for cow protection have been empowered. The legal ban on the slaughter of cows and the selling of Beef in India came as an expected cyclone and those who had made no provisions had to face the worst effects of the beef ban. The clouds and politics over beef ban had barely settled before the newly appointed chief minister of the state of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, declared his government’s zero tolerance towards those who running illegal slaughterhouses and selling banned beef. Three classmates discuss the ongoing meat crisis and also the attitude of media and towards such policies of the government. ---------- RECESS BELL RINGS ---------- ARNAB – Hi friends, Ms Anuradha’s class was soo boring. Problems with Religion

Image
Power corrupts, History divides, Religion consumes and the Shrewd thrive . Religion has consumed humanity and has turned humans against humans. However, religion was supposed to protect and to promote humanity and therefore many are even of the view that religion as we see today and religion which is being followed today, isn’t religion in the real sense it is in fact a highly distorted and a highly radical form of it and thus it is not the ‘religion’ that is creating problems but the misinterpretation of religion by the people. The above stated safeguard of religion is an acceptable one and to great an extent we can blame humans for radicalizing religion, which in its true sense is much an innocent concept whose mere object is to promote and to uplift humans and humanity. Thus the fundamental problem is not with ‘Religion’ but with psyche of human beings which has been unable to absorb and imbibe religion in its true form but in a highly adulterated form. I, on perso...

RELIGION FOR PEOPLE

I had a friend who once narrated numerous stories to me. Story of the battle at Karbala, story behind the relevance of Mecca, story of Prophet Mohammed and the story of Islam. The most beautiful quotient of our conversation was that my friend was able to answer each of my queries and give reason to every Islamic activity without a second’s pause. The source of his knowledge or as some may say ‘divine knowledge’ was the ‘Holy Quran’. His holy logics for the most peculiar traditions, conventions and practices seemed reasonable enough to be believed and followed. He justified praying five times a day, he justified eating beef and not pork, he justified fasting during Ramadan he justified polygamy and he even proved that concepts of rebirths and of afterlife are not mere concepts but realities. His religious sermon and especially his teaching that ‘none is above god and only by following the holy Quran can we be able to attain heaven’ left me convoluted, momentarily it became hard to d...
