USING FEMINISM AGAINST WOMEN

The last decade has been remarkable for a various reasons. Be it the rise of the ISIS on the global scale or the debacle of congress at the national sphere. The most remarkable of all developments, both nationally and internationally, has been a dramatic, continuous and rampant growth for the rights of women and for females. Despite the vast spread poverty and diversity, the call and demands of these rights has been equally strong in our country as well. However the actions either by the government or by the national and trans national organizations have rather been superficial. There might be certain degree of resistance to the statement and there are numerous examples to prove it wrong as well but the corporate world as I see of today has a uniquely hollow stand on women rights and despite all moves by the feminist leaders, the movement has certainly lost the steam. I would also like to stretch to the length of stating that in today’s world, feminism is being used against women. Be

LAW AS A MEANS TO PROGRESSION IN THE WORLD OF INVERSE REALITY

Through the looking glass: Summary Through the looking glass by Lewis Carroll is a gem of children novels which in a very humorous and creative manner explains numerous lessons of life to its readers. It is a story of a young seven years old girl who in her dream manages to get inside the world of the looking glass and becomes a part of the game of chess. The only manner in which she would win is by reaching the end and by getting herself crowned as the queen. In her pursuit she has to go through a number of stages where she meets various characters who give Alice an insight into the world of the looking glass and thus in one way or another, they end up helping her and she keeps moving ahead facing one adventure after another and meeting one character after another. She ultimately succeeds in winning the game and getting herself crowned as the queen of the looking glass world and just then she wakes up from her sleep and her dream ends so does the world of inverse reality.

LUCKILY NOBEL

Amidst all the cease fire violations on the indo- Pak borders, came news which wasn’t just news but also a virtual shield that halted the cease fire violations for some respectable number of hours. On 10 th December 2014, Malala Yousafzai from Pakistan & Kailash Satyarthi from India jointly won the most prestigious Noble peace prize. This was a moment to be cherished by the advocates of indo-Pak unity, however for people like me such instances only wakes up the Sherlock in me. Born on 12 th of July 1997 Malala has in just 17 years of her life achieved what even those in 71 years do not. She probably the youngest women rights activist in the entire world and ironically she is still a teenage girl. She started as a BBC blogger wherein she used to write about her life under the regime of Taliban, later the Taliban shot her in the head but fortunately gods stepped down from heaven and the girl was saved. This close and successful encounter with death blessed Yousafzai not just wi

THE HIJACKED MOVEMENT

In May 2014, 282 seats of the Lok Sabha were painted saffron. After 25 long years, India finally managed to decide upon a leader they wish to be led by. The BJP government came to power with a thumping majority, the Modi wave turned out to be much stronger than anticipated. But what came along BJPs victory was something traditional. Something which most of the people who probably voted for the BJP never wanted to come in scene. I talk of the Rashtra Swayamsevak Sangh or more commonly known as the RSS. Just within months, RSS had started showing its presence by commenting on certain deistic as well as caitiff figures of Indian freedom struggle. And here I refer to none but Mahatma Gandhi and Nathuram Godse. RSS demands Nathuram Godse being declared a Martyr. This demand definitely seems completely insane from the eyes of a prosaic man. But it is something that does makes sense when seen from the virtual third eye. Both the East India Company and the British crown had left

REVOLUTION AND PROTEST

A revolution against a governing body shall only be considered complete and successful when the body is not only removed but is replaced by a more effective and a more efficient one. An incomplete revolution is probably a more dangerous state than the previous one. Thus when the people decide to revolt, they must ensure that their revolt is not just well organized but is also farsighted. Protests and revolts might have become a common occurring today. In India or more precisely in Delhi, the situation is so grim that even the governing elites are equally taking part in protests leave alone the non governing individuals. The requisites for both, a protest and a revolt are a)       Intent b)       planning a protest/revolt done with the intent to better the existing state of affairs in a particular territory or a particular state is patriotism but when the same is fueled with an intent to seize power for oneself, then such an act amounts to terrorism. The perso

ASKING A HORSE TO DERACINATE THE GRASS HE GRAZES UPON

INTRODUCTION Ailments and bodily disorders can best be cured by striking at their roots which further requires knowledge of their origin. Similarly, there prevail numerous ailments in our state as well. As a matter of fact, the societal disorder which we shall discuss today isn’t exclusive to any state or a group of states, it is in fact prevalent in every society, modern or primitive, and in every state be it a developed, developing or a third world state. The disorder is universal in nature and the cure has yet not been found. Women of our world have sadly been an ever subjugated and suppressed half. They lack in every sphere, are always ever considered a weaker section and looked upon as someone who is born to be ruled over. Not long ago, women too realized their appalling state and the need to better their conditions thus began the feminist movement which was aimed at ending all inequalities against women and which seeks a life for women which is equal to that of their male

Why no mahatma after Gandhi

The title of the essay seems rather confusing. Mahatma Gandhi the most popular leader who led the Indian freedom movement to its very goal was unfortunately the very last produce in the same genre by our beloved motherland. But this fact however is also a debatable one for he spent the early years of his life which are considered as the most crucial years in the life of a human being or the developing years, not in India but at abroad thus Gandhi the Leader was never really the creation of India. The infertility of the Indians at creating leaders still continues even after 68 long years of freedom, even when there is no alien power suppressing us nor is education limited to only a selected few. What is then the problem, where does the infertile duct lies in our country and how can it be replaced by a fertile one? These are some question that we Indians need to answer before we claim to be developed or before we vouch for a permanent seat in the UN Security Council because such de

UNDERSTANDING THE FIGHT AGAINST COMMUNALISM

Partition is done with, Britishers are gone and Secularism has been adopted by the Indian society. Many even believe that secularism has now integrated with the modern Indian society. Yet every time the country witnesses some political festival it is preceded and proceeded by long debates on the secularism and religious communalism, thereby highlighting the earnest need for redefining communalism and secularism in the modern Indian society and understanding these terms in their very basic forms. Communalism as defined in the modern dictionaries is ‘loyalty and commitment to the interests of your own minority or ethnic group rather than to society as a whole; or the practice of communal living and common ownership;’ thus when a person tries to promote his or her own community even in the minutest way possible, that person is being communal. While secularism is ‘when a person does not promotes his community’. A community is a group of people having a religion, ethnic, professio

ELEMENT OF PATRIARCHY IN ‘THE MURDER OF ROGER ACKROYD’

INTRODUCTION: Published in June 1926, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is often regarded as the ‘Queen of Mystery’ novels. In fact, in the year 2013 i.e. after 87 years of its publication, the novel was voted by the British Crime Writer’s association as the best crime novel ever. Since the award come decades after Christie’s demise, it proved instrumental in re-stimulating a worldwide need for fictions and writers as great as ‘The Murder of Roger Ackroyd’ and ‘Agatha Christie’ respectively. Born in the era of world wars, cold war and also one where in women were highly disregarded and their creations underrated, Christie managed to defy the odds and even in the 19 th and 20 th century when the world and even the British society was in transition, she managed to leave her mark and she must have been an inspiration to numerous other people, especially women, who would have been struggling in their lives amidst global instability. Even today when women subjugation is equally prevalen

RELIGION IN POLITICS

Gandhi the patron of secularism once remarked ‘politics without religion is a trap, is a trap, is a trap’ was Gandhi being a hypocrite by preaching ‘a’ while practicing ‘ z’? In order to find out the real sense of the his dialogue we first need to understand what religion meant for him. Religion in the Indian concept is composed of four basic virtues i.e. ‘Dharma, Artha, Karma & Moksha’. Dharma means duty, Artha means capital, Karma is the deeds while Moksha is peace these all together form what we know as religion. Religion therefore refers to duties and sane deeds to have a peaceful life hence politics without duties and sane deeds is definitely a trap, a trap, a trap. A very raw meaning of religion is ‘love for god’ and that of communalism is ‘obsession for god and one’s religion’. Communalism is the perverted form of religion and the extreme form of communalism leads to ‘fanaticism’. Religion and communalism are two terms which are invariably used as synonyms in most o

RELIGION FOR PEOPLE

I had a friend who once narrated numerous stories to me. Story of the battle at Karbala, story behind the relevance of Mecca, story of Prophet Mohammed and the story of Islam. The most beautiful quotient of our conversation was that my friend was able to answer each of my queries and give reason to every Islamic activity without a second’s pause. The source of his knowledge or as some may say ‘divine knowledge’ was the ‘Holy Quran’. His holy logics for the most peculiar traditions, conventions and practices seemed reasonable enough to be believed and followed. He justified praying five times a day, he justified eating beef and not pork, he justified fasting during Ramadan he justified polygamy and he even proved that concepts of rebirths and of afterlife are not mere concepts but realities. His religious sermon and especially his teaching that ‘none is above god and only by following the holy Quran can we be able to attain heaven’ left me convoluted, momentarily it became hard to d

HAVING AN OPINION IS EXPENSIVE

Having an opinion is expensive. Birth in an Indian middle family class means a life of struggle and an unknown death. Very few middle class Indians have managed to reach zenith but what keeps this particular section of our society peculiar is that these people live on nothing more than hope, hope bounded by their ideologies and their pre conceived notions is the fuel which keeps the engine of Indian middle class rolling. Hatred and anger are two distinct emotions, but it can be said that one leads to the other. Scientifically it has been found that the human brain is by default set to be compassionate, loving and caring. Despite such lovable settings in each one of our brains, the world today is as horrific as one can imagine it to be. We are made to love and care but humans generally act the otherwise. Why do we hate people around us is a major question. In this essay of ours we shall be discussing a major cause of societal hatred keeping in mind the Indian middle class society.
